SELECTED WORK / 01 / TWINKLETASKS
From printed organiser
to commercial software.
The client had been using a printed family organiser on the fridge and wanted to turn the idea into a digital product families could use every day.
Talk about a product idea
01 / THE PROBLEM
A useful idea, still on the fridge.
A printed organiser gives a family a shared place for plans and routines. The client’s ambition was to turn that paper-based idea into software families could use day to day, and into a product around which a business could be built.
The work therefore went beyond presenting the idea on a website. It needed a multi-user product with distinct parent and child experiences, the everyday routines at its centre and the account management needed for a commercial service.
02 / THE RESPONSE
One product. Different family experiences.
Studio DALI designed and built TwinkleTasks as a multi-user software platform. Parent and child experiences sit alongside routines, rewards, device pairing, account management and billing.
The product keeps family organisation at the centre while giving the different users an experience appropriate to their part in it. The approved artwork shows the parent dashboard and child profiles alongside a separate child experience.
03 / THE PRODUCT DETAIL
The everyday work, and the system around it.
Routines, tasks & rewards
These are the organising features carried from the family idea into the digital product. The supplied screens show routines and tasks alongside the reward experience.
Parent & child experiences
The interface includes parent controls, child profiles and a separate child experience, with device pairing and a Parent PIN forming part of the setup and use of the product.
Account management & billing
Commercial software needs more than its central feature. Account and billing functionality support the transition from a personal organising idea to a service the client could build a business around.
04 / WHAT CHANGED
An idea became a working product.
What began as a paper-based idea became a real product the client could build a business around.
This project demonstrates the distance between digitising an object and building a commercial software product: the family workflow, distinct user experiences, device setup, accounts and billing all have a place in the finished system.
